More Stray Cat Events

Due to the past success of June’s Stray Cat Blitz, the City of Johnstown has partnered with JAWS again to conduct more TNR Events. We have agreed to plan up to ten more Stray Cat TNR Events between now and May 2027, with the next one scheduled for July 20 in the West End.

TNR Event Details:

• TNR Events rotate through neighborhoods, selected based on need & resident cooperation

• Up to 26 cats get care per TNR Event (~16 females and 10 males)

• Care = TNR (Trap, Neuter/Spay, Return) + Rabies Vaccination

• Events are funded by City of Johnstown

• City is only billed for captured cats during established TNR Events

• Associated costs are: $65 per male, $80 per female, $250 for transportation, $600 for recovery boarding (support to the Humane Society staff & facilities) and any fundamental tools such as traps, cages, bowls, bate and other professional equipment.

• As an incentive, the city will also cover the cost of Free Fix Vouchers. All volunteers, including JAWS members, will receive one Free Fix Voucher per 5 cats captured during TNR Events.
